‘Aight. Time to get clear on a few things. Namely: how this Choose Your/Her Own Adventure thing is going to work. Because it is nice to know for you readers, but also for me to preserve my sanity during November.
First,
We are doing Preptober by making a few choices, like male/female/other and point of view, and the next question that is below. (Check it ouout!)
Second,
I will start off with the set-up/first episode, that will of course include the choices we made in October.
Third,
I will end every episode with a choice to make for the day after. It could be a direction to walk in, it could be a decision to make, it could be an item to choose – it could be anything. Choices are made by poll, most of the time. Maybe I will add a few open questions. I don’t know yet! And neither do you… ghegheghe.
Fourth,
Every episode will have a tl;dr (too long; didn’t read) summary at the end, in case you’re busy (e.g. with your own NaNo project) and don’t have time to read my stuff but still want to participate. Or if you hate my writing but still want to join the adventuring, you can just jump from tl;dr to tl;dr and live happily ever after. Yay!
Fifth,
Since I work during the day and will probably only have time to write in the evening or sometimes late afternoon, I will let you read and/or make choices when I am sleeping (especially nice for the overseasies) or working so between about 11pm and 4pm the next day. This is local time in Amsterdam. I don’t know what time that is for you, sorry. Still, it is a 17 hour window every day, that should be enough.
Sixth,
Not all episodes will have the same length. We are aiming for 1,667 words a day, obviously, but if there is one thing I know about NaNo it is that life tends to make a bloody good effort to get as much in the way as possible. Bastard.
Which brings me to
Seventh,
I may swear. I don’t write for kids (and anyway I think kids learn these words anyway so they might as well learn them from a Good Person – i.e. me) but in case you’re sensitive about these things (and I don’t judge, each to their own) you might appreciate this headsup. Not that my posts will be absolutely fucking littered with swearwords, but ya know.
Eighth,
Thanks! I hope it will be fun.
So… now for today’s question:
We have already established that the main character is a woman, and that we’re talking in the 3rd person (she, her, hers). But what age is she?
Oh and don’t forget to subscribe (check the buttons in the sidelines!) and/or follow (check the buttons below!) so you will stay up to date with the story – and what I did with your choices!
I totally agreed with the comment recently about there not being enough older women in fiction that isn’t about their families, etc. So either of the current top votes sounds great 🙂
